CD Cover Front and Back

My idea was to design a CD cover that would give a modern and warm feel and at the same time be original.
I made the background nice and subtle with a wild Heading, to focus the viewers attention.

I originally had a border but it felt like too much was happening and the details felt a bit overwhelming on colour so i kept the it border free. I feel quiet satisfied with the results for the front cover.

The back cover  i kept similar to the front cover with less contrast as i needed to focus the viewers attention on the tracks and the text. But without any contrast the cover looks too bland so i placed a transparent border. The design did pretty well but not quiet as happy with this result as with the front cover.

The background was the first step i needed to fuel the design because i had a mind block at the time and i needed a direction. i didn't want a flat background so i placed a gradient in a shape selection, which i made using the pen tool and then inverse selection to dot he gradient on the other side.

The heading is something that really contrasts in both style and colour, as the colour scheme and style don't match with the background. The font of the text i used is called Angelic War and in the blending options i used gradient overlay, stroke and outer glow, to create this soft yet aggressive text.

The Layers are basic, i created duplicates of text to fill in the spaces.

That's Rubbish

My thoughts of rubbish are any objects that are no longer in use or unwanted and so the first things that came to my head were old newspapers that we read 1 day and throw out the next. To create variety I added some used disposable cups to keep originality in my font design as I am sure other people in the class will be using news papers.

In the above picture you will notice my rubbish formed letters have an outline which i needed because the letters were not distinguished enough. Some of the letter background were either too light or too dark for the original intended outline colour. The black outline contrasted the Letters that had a light background and white outline for the backgrounds that were dark. One of the lettering was very blurred and so i had to enhance its appearance by  using the sharpen filter.

The layers are very simplistic as each letter has two layers, one for its background and one for the letter itself which was also used for the blending options.

Overall I am happy with what I have come up with despite the lack of image quality, and i hope my design will inspire others in the making of their own rubbish font.

Vignette

The image is an edited photo of a Loris eating a toast with Elvis's portrait burnt into it. The original photo has the Loris eating an insect, in comparison to the modified image you will notice that the Loris contrasts better than the original picture. I have created this effect with the use of 'Vignette' a Photoshop filter which darkened the edges of the picture.

 

The picture required me to use 5 layer, the background layer i kept at the bottom just incase i need to recopy the original picture. The duplicate above is colour manipulated slightly to give a better contrast.

The layer above the duplicated picture is for the toast which in the image was placed in the Loris's hands. Again i have slightly altered the colour of the toast to match the background picture.

Every other layer was used to make the picture more realistic, in layer 5 is the Loris's nose covering the toast to make it seem like the it is eating the toast and layer 4 has the Loris's hand holding the toast.

The very top layer was used for Vignette filter which darkens the edges.
